The New Baroque Times Instituto Cervantes Brussels reside Since its première in december 2012, The New Baroque Times is widely considered as one of the finest baroque ensembles in Belgium. Praised by the specialized music press, The New Baroque Times is recognised for its hot-blooded temperament and the high artistic quality of its performances. The New Baroque Times explores and reinvents the tonal universe of music from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, performing on period instruments and employing historical performance practice. Looking to escape the dogmas of “classical” performance and aiming to whet the appetite of today’s general public, secular and sacred repertoire fuel the ensemble’s creation of spectacles combining music, poetry, dance and/or visual arts, bringing together ancient and modern art forms. The New Baroque Times ensemble varies its ensemble configuration from program to program and fosters collaborations with other distinguished performing ensembles as Astoria, Brussels Chamber Orchestra or RedHerring baroque ensemble (Patrick Denecker) and works under the baton of conductors like Hansjörg Albrecht or Dirk Vermeulen. The New Baroque Times has participated to many contemporary creations and has performed in prestigious festivals and concert halls in Belgium (Festival van Vlaanderen , Festival de Wallonie, Midis-Minimes, Classissimo, Zomer van Sint-Pieter, Stadsschouwburg Leuven, Festival International Max van der Linden, Festival de Musique Ancienne de Verviers, Les Grandes Heures de La Cambre, AMUZ (Antwerp), Capitole (Gent), Royal Chapel, BRASS Centre Culturel, European Parliament), Spain (Festival Arte Sacro, Festival Música para la Semana Santa, Música do Camiño, Atardeceres Musicales en Valdediós), France (Festival de La Charité-sur-Loire, Rencontres Culturelles en Pévèle-Carembault) and Italy (Echi Lontani). As result of the artistic residence at Instituto Cervantes Brussels, The New Baroque Times Voices has developed a concert season dedicated to Spanish baroque music and a program of cultural exchange.
