In full flight, The Long Lonesome Go draw on influences from Autechre to Alice Coltrane, Talk Talk to Can to conjure a searching brew that leads to continual denials of a secret prog rock ambitions. At their best, this drums/bass/keyboards trio forge an unprecedented link between Artificial Intelligence-era electronica and the questing and grandiose glories of Goblin and Mahavishnu Orchestra.

The LLG rhythm section excited many a Northern stage as two-thirds of the criminally under-heard The Unit Ama, where they honed their extended free-rock chops before taking a line-up diversion and hooking with piano composer and improvisor Paul Taylor. Taylor greatly expands his palette in this setting, and the collective richness of their individual playing – drums forging a connection between Milford Graves and Klaus Dinger, and throbbing, fluid, often dubby and sparse bass vying with Taylor's man-machine smorgasbord – brings some divine evolutions from the minimal to maximal and back.
