The Hurt Project New York The Hurt Project features Atlanta native Marlon Hurt's brand of original blues. The band is currently on hiatus. For Marlon's current project, see Queens County Roots. The Hurt Project began in 2012 as a break-away from an up-and-coming classic blues band. Immediately after forming, THP released a studio album of blues standards and completed a ten day tour of the Montana blues circuit where they played various venues, from intimate, 30-person clubs to 2,000-person festivals. The band performs regularly throughout New York City, where they recently opened for Jane Lee Hooker at The Rock Shop (September, 2015), and were honored to be included in two Hurricane Sandy benefit performances to help rebuild after the storm tore through the city in 2012. The Hurt Project is dedicated to adding original songs to the blues lexicon, three of which were featured on the singles release, "The Shady Bear Sessions," in 2014, and four of which appear on the band’s EP, "After the Storms," released in August, 2015. A full album of acoustic blues, "Bare Bones," was released in August, 2016.
