The Flowers of Evil are a blast of post psychedelic-punk trash 21st century weirdness that could have only been spawned in the beautiful reverb drenched, rolling hills and fuzzed out marshes of Southern Illinois. The Flowers Of Evil was originally started in 2009 as a recording project by Kaleb Hunter and Steve Henderson. For the last two years they have filled up hundreds of hours of tapes with songs, songs, and more songs.Lots of writing and recording was done in Chicago, where Kaleb lived for awhile, and then back in Southern Illinois. The Flowers play a distinct type of music, heavily influenced from all kinds of sounds like The Velvet Underground and The 13th Floor Elevators to Hank Williams, Sun Ra, John Coltrane,The Raincoats,Captain Beefheart etc. They have a distinct ear for sounds from a forgotten and esoteric past, but keep both eyes steadfastly on the future with their music and songwriting. Not liking labels and pigeonholing, they simpley describe it as a very primal, punk in spirit, head music. There are no rules, and that is the type of music that The Flowers strive to make. Music with no rules or limitations.Punk Rock, Psychedelic, Garage, Acid Rock, Space Rock, Shoegaze, whatever the hell you want to call it. We just like to create. Since August 2011, The Flowers have self-released 3 albums, one which is a double. Exile On Brain Street(August 2011), 11:11(January 2012), and the newest double album Transit To Venus(April 2012).All three were made and distributed by Kaleb through his own Black Monk Sound Records label. All three records are also still available to order, albeit only in cd form right now. If you'd like to order one of the albums, just send us a message on here, or drop us a line at the band email
We have a hundred or so songs up on our youtube page as well if you'd like to hear some free music. Steal it, download it, we don't care. Just listen.
