The Department Rob Green London Established in 2013, The Department are a 3-piece synthwave band consisting of Rob Green on vocals and synth (London), Magnus Lindström on synth (Gothenburg, Sweden) and Cliff Chapman (Naked Lunch / Some Bizzare Records). inspired by classic electro and new wave, their ethos is based around creating dramatic, instant, energetic electronic pop music with moving lyrics that explore life, love and existence. The band have enjoyed radio support from the likes of Radio 6 Music and have been featured in many music publications in the UK, Europe and the US. They have played live at venues such as the legendary Romo Night club in Sweden, the 100 Club, Synth Wave Live festival, Electro London Festival, Synth Club, Analogue Nights, Electrowerkz, Zigfrid Von Underbelly, The Hope & Anchor and many more. They have played alongside bands such as Sigue Sigue Sputnik Electronic, Massive Ego, The Woodentops, Vile Electrodes and Ekkoes, plus several headline slots. Check out their stunningly bizarre video to 'As If Transformed', the debut single taken from 'Alpha'. A feast of sexy people and crazy costumes, the video is a parody of glitzy cosmetics commercials and is also loosely based on the children's paper game 'Heads, Bodies & Tails', where you end up with random combinations of outfits and body parts. This pop promo has now had over 17,000 plays on You Tube. Rob Green of the Department used to make progressive house records in the mid-90's under several monikers. His records were supported by the likes of Sasha and Pete Tong, he has DJ'd in clubs such as The Hacienda and sold many thousands of records. But when Rob's kitchen radio got stuck on an 80's radio station in 2012, all the favourite tunes of his youth slipped back under his skin. Samplers and glow sticks were soon replaced with synthesizers and microphones and The Department was born!
