Sardanapalian EP may only have five tracks but each one is overflowing with high octane, intense, quality tunes with plenty of tempo changes bordering on the chaotic - yet all played with perfection." - Room Thirteen The Darvaza Hole formed in 2010. A self-taught drummer, and a self-taught bassist, Steve Dewis and Laura Coban decided that if they and Richard Jones (who had previously worked with Steve in an acoustic outfit) couldn't find a rhythm section that could keep up with their pace of writing in their studio in Southend-on-sea, they'd have to do it themselves. They play heavy, dark music but with a melodic and soulful layer that lifts them away from the norm, and means they don't sit well in 1 genre. While festival friendly - they've played The Willow Festival, Damn Dead Circus Festival and Village Green to name a few - they don't shy away from turning up the distortion and letting rip on the vocals. They've played alongside A Plastic Rose (official support to Snow Patrol), Vox Empire (official support to We Are Scientists), as well as earning their own acclaim supporting Wombats & Mystery Jets' DJ sets at London's Scala. With 3 EPs under their belts in 3 years, 2014 will see them recording a much anticipated debut album, followed by touring around Essex, London, and festivals across the country.
