Written Heritage Of Mankind In Peril - The Legal Framework for Retrieving Stolen Books by The British Library published on 2015-08-12T17:22:18Z Written Heritage of Mankind in Peril, Part 2 The Written Heritage of Mankind in Peril was a one-day conference held at the British Library on 26 June 2015, exploring the issues relating to the theft and recovery of stolen books and manuscripts the world over. The conference brought together international experts on the matter, from lawyers and academics to archivists and librarians, in order to help publicise the threats posed by book theft and to determine best practices in order to help institutions in protecting the written heritage of mankind. The conference was co-organised by the British Library, the Institute of Art & Law and the Union internationale des avocats.
