...Catharus guttatus... by tschokskott / thankyoustreetsound published on 2016-07-12T11:49:55Z Finally, for those who asked me about it: Here is one of my „exercise/test sketches“ for my upcoming bird album. Based on a piano+voice live recording. It´s not the final recorded version & of course not perfectly mixed. Still a surprise which tracks will make it on the album in the end. It´s the basic pattern of one of the more meditative, repetitive pieces: manipulated recordings of hermit & wood thrushes + fragments of the poem „The Hermit Thrush“ by John Burroughs + excerpts from F. Schuyler Mathews´ musical notations of the hermit´s song. Although I am not an American, I am a huge fan of the Catharus thrushes, especially the hermit thrush, and I understand completely why so many poets/musicians are fascinated by their elusive, haunting song... so I decided to do my own hermit interpretation.
