TERRY GEORGE
LONDON
DJ Terry George, of South London, also formerly known as Mr E & Defender.
Terry's initial memories of music were listening to & liking genres of music such as Motown & Soul. Individual artists he liked were Jackson Five, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, The Carpenters, Leo Sayer & Frank Sinatra.
However his passion for music first became apparent in 1988 when he started frequenting the early acid house raves at parties such as Dickie Dirts Arches, Carwash, Sunrise, Energy & Biology.
By 1989 these had spread to the M25 Orbital. However due to authority pressures they started to make their way back into London.
This inspired Terry to organize and hold parties of his own and by 1991 was successfully doing parties called Eruption, which he did at Segdwick Studios, booking the likes of Satin Storm, Loft Groover, Colin Dale & many more underground DJ's.
By 1992 he had co-founded Destiny FM, where he played on regular shows. He was also being booked by Wild About Nothing at this time.
It was at this point that he became interested in the musical production side of things. This led friends Kenny Charles, Clarky & himself to form & create Defender, where they made a number of tracks such as, Feel It & Kenny's Jam. Feel It was successfully released on Azuli records of Blackmarket Records, it was also remixed by Jumping Jack Frost & Defender & again was successfully released on Azuli Records.
By 1994 he was also collaborating & producing with Dillinja & Kenny Charles again, under the name of Underworld & produced tracks including The Rising, 3am In The Morning & Deep Love. This inspired them to start their own record label, Logik Productions. During this period they had releases out on IQ Records such as Steelers Anthem & he also released tracks under the name of Regulate for Hard Leaders, (an underground label for Kicking Records). He was also working for Rising High & Holy Ghost promoting their new releases, whilst working alongside Kenny Charles promoting the then new producer Dillinja.
During this same period he also got bookings to play at venues up & down the country & across Europe at parties for Spiral Tribe, Innocence, Telepathy & Ministry of Sound. He was also playing for a lot of Student Union parties at this time.
However due to there not being enough hours in the day & at that time music production being at the for front of his mind, he took to playing on guest shows for "Eruption" in Hackney. Whilst keeping his DJing limited playing for Goldie's Metalheads & Brian G's V recordings as to fulfill his production ambitions.
After this period in 2000 is when he moved to the house side of music. He started DJing under his own name of Terry George and alongside his very good friend DJ Roachman. They started a record label called FBI Recordings & held parties under the name of Q4Quality, in South London & Austria. This led them to work alongside Visual DJ's; 4 UR Eye.
By 2009 he was taking various bookings to play at parties up & down the country & also held numerous residencies at places such as Catch 22, Tee's Wine bar and The Rose. The idea behind the residency at The Rose was for it to be a pre party warm up. However by the end of his set nobody wanted to move onto the main party & by public demand he was booked to play the 'main' party which normally took place in Hidden nightclub.
In 2010 he alongside his partner created Maze Connections. A record label & party organizers, holding & hosting parties across the country & at the same time was still doing parties under Q4Quality. This is when he joined the Unknownfm.net family.
At present Terry George is still doing his show on Unknownfm.net, on Sunday nights from 10pm-12am. Is still producing music under his Maze Connections label & will have releases out early next year, as well as still hosting parties under this label & is also still fulfilling bookings for other party organizers such as Jesse James of Connected.
