Old Man Deckard [disquiet0243] by telechir published on 2016-08-27T21:30:04Z A response to Disquiet Junto #243, "Synth Trial": a music cue from a fictional soundtrack to a second Blade Runner film. This is more of a pastiche than planned. It's 2051, Deckard is now in his 70s. And this is the first time the audience meets him - and we see how much of the past he's carrying around with him. So: a piano, a slightly artificial piano, that gets increasingly distressed and deconstructed as the cue goes on; strings that head in the same direction, ultimately; and a Vangelis-ish lead, for his memories of 2024, and of Rachel. I wanted something equally 1984 and 1948 for that - a callback to noiry-jazz. Too much of a pastiche, maybe, but something to start with. I wanted Future Noir, not Gibson Cyberpunk.
