Remembering Lucy Baum by t-Roy published on 2013/04/04 16:44:39 +0000 From another project in the Cultural Xchange Series, this is a sneak-peek from the upcoming "Hollywood Sessions" CD, dropping in the late summer of 2014. "Remembering Lucy Baum" is Produced by Wendy Waldman and is another co-write with my friend, Walter Grund of Dusslingen Germany, who is named after his grandfather, a Lieutenant in the Third Reich serving under Hitler. It also features the magnificent piano of Pawel Zarecki from Warsaw, Poland. The story behind this sad song comes from the very first March of Remembrance which was held 2009 in Dallas TX. Two of our honorable speakers that year were William & Rosalie Schiff. William survived Auschwitcz and Rosalie was saved by Oskar Schindler. They were married for over 60 years before William passed on in 2011. Rosalie has a nightly ritual of repeating her sisters name over and over, because Lucy was murdered at age 14 in Belzec (Nazi death camp in Poland) and Rosalie is afraid that it will be as if her sister had never lived if no one remembers her name. Now we can all help her remember Lucy Baum.
