History's Dust [2016] by TCIM published on 2016-04-18T14:30:23Z Following the sudden and violent end of a by now legendary concert in a Berlin underground basement, TCIM disappeared. Many a fans mourned the silence, but even more have now joined the jubilant crowd of anticipation, seeing that what looked like the end of music was in fact a reincarnation. This in spite the assumption that it couldn’t get any better than the critical success of Rest In Pieces. (2012), hailed for its sharp lyrics, heavenly choirs and unique arrangements. This is where the new album History’s Dust takes off. As a tribute to a free life far from alienation and monotony. 12 strong cuts, each a small symphony in their own right. A soundtrack for the revolution of your everyday life, combining lush arrangements with a thirst for love and a sincere political conviction. Last summer, the new edition of The Culture In Memoriam gave us a taste of the anticipated full-length album, in the brutally ironic and up-tempo sing-along single Hey Ho, the long wished-for show-down with macho rock n’ rollers, pickled greens and a mock music industry. It was as a five-year-old Victor Håkansson began his musical journey, travelling around with a theater-society, playing tambourine. Now, four albums and seven singles later, he continues as the “Chairman of the bored [sic]” in The Culture In Memoriam, an organic collective of musicians based in Malmoe, Sweden. What Victor produces in music exposes a true sense of alienation and a torn mind in its actual state of thirst for life and of furiousness against capitalism. The decadent currents turn into an act of pavestone pop, capable of tempting your senses. The latest album ”Rest in Pieces”, was hailed in unison by critics and audiences. The feministic single ”Sisters” obtained heavy rotation on Swedish national radio as well as on German radio. The band also got media attention with the single ”Jimmie”. TCIM also does frequent tours in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and The Netherlands. History’s Dust will be available on vinyl and CD as well as at every digital download store you can imagine.
