Tazieff Paris Tazieff produces harmonies that are sombre and mysterious; a rock music that is powerful, blowing hot and cold. The melodies are addictive and in an instant the music goes from brute force to an unexpected finesse. The influences are many -Radiohead, Tom Waits, dEUS, Joy Division, Massive Attack- but the blend is unique. With Tazieff, there is no joy without sorrow, no storm without calm, no enjoyment without a good spanking. Formed in late 2010, Tazieff began working in their studio in Gennevilliers. The compositions really started to take shape during a residence in an abandoned nightclub at the foot of the volcanic mountains of Auvergne. Selected in 2012 as part of the Réseau 92’s Träce scheme, and with the support of the Barbara FGO Music Centre, Tazieff played a number of venues in and around the Paris area including the Nouveau Casino and the Point Ephémère. With help from the Hauts-de-Seine General Council, the group took part in the Bbmix festival, sharing the billing with Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), and the Chorus Festival. Tazieff recorded their EP in March 2014 at the Midilive Studios, with Peter Deimel (The Kills, Anna Calvi, dEUS) doing the mixing. The official release of “By The Kingdom” is scheduled for spring 2015. With their first video entitled “The Line”, Tazieff take us on a spellbinding, dream-like journey in the company of a disconcerting and mesmerizing Juliette Gernez, dancer at the Paris Opera. A disquieting initiation into the world of Tazieff.
