TarantisT - a toxxxic uncontrolled impulsive dance mania caused by the bite of a Tarantula. Also known as Tarantism.
TarantisT was formed in 2000 in Tehran, IRAN by a group of young underground metal heads and moved to Los Angeles, CA in 2008.
TarantisT started playing alternative rock and heavy metal music in the basements of Tehran, secretly and quietly, but LOUD. Putting on secret, underground shows and through word of mouth, the band obtained international attention. International media correspondents (including, but not limited to; BBC, NHK, SKY, CNN, NPR, SAT 1, Metal Hammer, Kerrang) started visiting Tehran to meet and talk with TarantisT. Soon news reports and posts began to aid TarantisT with international expansion. Following that, TarantisT was invited to play their music in European and North American festivals, such as; SXSW, CMJ, NXNE, Canadian Music Week, and Intergalactic Fest, to name a few. TarantisT played with familiar bands; Metallica, Motörhead, Stone Temple Pilots, Muse, Cheap Trick, Voivod, Sum 41, My Ruin, Ben Harper, and many more.
TarantisT released their self titled EP in 2006, Tarantism in 2008, Distorted Brains in 2010, "Say Hail" single in 2010, and the single "For Me The Bells Toll" in 2011, which has been featured and published by the SXSW festival.
