Mikey's Thang by Phil H Electronic Music published on 2012/05/11 21:39:20 +0000 There was a time in the late 80's I got to work with some of the best musician's you never heard of. Mike Hamilton was one of them. Mike was an incredible B3 guy who could call number changes with one hand, play the B3, kick bass, sing and smoke all at the same time. He had a great ear and if ever there was a guy who overthought harmonic content, it was Mike. He could hear a 1-4-5-1 power chord and come back at you with some inside 6, 2 in the bass thing. Anyway, Mike had a chance to submit "something" to "somebody", so he wrote this tune that always sounded somehow patriotic, like "go join the Air Force" or something, which is, I think, what he was after. I midified it for him, fixed some clams and talked him out of things drummers can't do without 6 arms. So from about 1988, here's Mikey's Thang. RIP my always fashionably late bro, your death was unfashionably early.
