Sylvia Filus Sylvia Filus Paris Film score, concert music, jazz, songs… Composer, born in Poland and established in Paris (France), Sylvia Filus is graduated in Film Music Composition and in Orchestration (First Prize). In order to complete her musical education, she followed the two years conducting program lead by prof. Adrian McDonnell at the Conservatoire Frédéric Chopin in Paris and composition master classes with Milosz Magin and Michel Merlet. Sylvia Filus has composed music for several movies, chamber music ensembles, symphonic orchestra and big band. In 2008, at the request of the Pomeranian Society Musica Sacra and the Chamber Orchestra of Gdynia, Sinfonietta Nordica, she wrote the Cycle of 3 melodies for mezzo-soprano, barytone, and orchestra, which was performed during the festival The Music of Words in Gdynia (Poland). In 2010 she was commissioned by the Polish Strauss Society to commemorate Chopin’s 200 Anniversary and wrote Fantasia in "Salt" Minor performed by the orchestra Obligato at the Symphonic Chopin concert in the Salt Mine of Wieliczka (near Cracow). During the same year, Sylvia Filus was a member of the jury at the festival Romantic Piano in Reims (France), and she was honored with the Trophy of Women‘s Success by the Association France-Euro-Méditerranée. In 2010 she became also a finalist of the competition International Music Prize for Excellence in Composition awarded by the National Academy of Music and was invited as a Jury member on the Romantic Piano Festival in Reims. In 2011 Sylvia Filus was invited to take part of the jury for film music prize in short movies during the film festival Premier Plans in Angers and has composed music for her first feature film Le Bout du monde (The End of the World) by the marocan filmmaker Hakim Noury. Commissioned by Lobster Films and SACEM for the european film collection on line Europa Film Treasures she wrote music for two silent movies: “Danseur de jazz” (feature) and “Troppo Bello!” (short). In 2013 Sylvia Filus participated in the Jury of the XV Milosz Magin International Piano Competition, the Professional Jury at the National Film Festival in Hyères (France) and has been awarded in the International Composition Competition "Artistes en herbe" in Luxembourg. She also took part of the B.O. Concert, 25 french composers film music concert in Paris and in the Spring Concert in Padua (Italy), where her piece "Cobweb" was premiered by the orchestra I Solisti Veneti conducted by Claudio Scimone. In 2020, Sylvia Filus composed music for the movie « Quand je serai grande » (When I grow up) by Yves Levy, which received the Sacem grant for original music.
