Educating the Create and Share Generation - SXSWedu 2013 by SXSWedu published on 2013-03-06T15:30:38Z Not only do Millennials have access to more information than previous generations, they are creating and sharing at an unbelievable and accelerating rate. The rise of Minecraft, Tumblr, and countless meme generators indicates that the creation, remixing and sharing of content is an important part of how young people communicate with each other and how we can better understand their world. Educators and advocates can leverage this natural interest in making content (such as memes, comics and video games) to spark critical discussion and real world action about social issues, like bullying and digital abuse prevention. This panel will bring together a group of social media, marketing and education experts whose pro-social initiatives and classroom curricula engage youth through online content creation. This panel will discuss how to design online tools that compel young people to create content about socially meaningful issues and how content can be used to drive real world action.
