All of Swircle 987's music is ALL original! Every song, every sound, every beat, every bass line, etc. is carefully crafted from scratch. Samples from NASA? Sure! Sampled beats? Nah...don't need 'em - he makes them! ~_~
Swircle 987, aka Will Beazley, is an abstractician. An abstractician deals primarily with things in the abstract such as Mathematics, Music, and Art. Swircle 987 is the name Will has given to himself for the purpose of representing his music and art.
Though Will also improvises on keyboards, writes songs for guitar, sings, and practices sound engineering from time to time, his electronic music is often based on the beauty of logic, music theory, and mathematics.
This is no new thing for Will, as he first became, well... obsessed... with the mathematics of music and the music of mathematics at the age of 14. After having been introduced to the connection between math and the arts, he began to research the subject in his own time. Unexpectedly, he ended up using the Math/Music Program he and his brother put together in high school as part of his thesis for his BA in The Mathematics of Music.
To be sure, music has not just been an abstract theoretical object for Will. During those early times, he was also teaching himself composition by composing many songs on his Amiga. All the while, he continued to improvise on piano for more time than is perhaps healthy. ^_~
Of course, Will continued to create music after earning his degree, even though funds only allowed for, let's just say, "classic" software such as Fruity Loops (the first version) and Cakewalk (before it was called Sonar).
Several albums of that later, Will serendipitously stumbled upon an opportunity to obtain more current and powerful production tools. Perhaps ironically, this came about when he created and taught a UC approved Music Production course at a private school. Catching himself up quickly by re-reading several music production magazines about 100 times over again and producing a yet to be published album, Will was able to master the new software himself in less time than less previous experience might have allowed.
Soon thereafter, Will produced and published BASSIC LAHJIC within six months. 10 lovely songs.
About six months later he released OFF tHE BEAtIN PAtHOS. This album maintains a hard, uptempo, and upbeat pace. Although the album itself only contains 10 songs, these 10 songs represent 39 different and quite unique mixes of these 10 songs.
Most Recently, Will published "Grayscale Meta-Album: Value 1.0 Sub-Album," which is the first of three sub-albums of this meta-album. Huh?! Well, all 12 songs on this album exist as 3 or more mixes of the same over all respective tunes.
All in all, the "Grayscale Meta-Album" is far beyond "well worth the listen," and more aptly deemed "well worth the live in."
"I am very grateful to all those at SoundCloud who've now collectively listened to my songs well over 20,000 times and downloaded my tunes over 1,000 times! It's a wonderful thought to know people all over the world are listening to my music, and perhaps a couple people in rather disparate parts of the world are rocking out to one of my songs right now!
