These past two months have been a whirlwind for me. I continue to learn and grow, with the help of my friends, and the help of my inner strength. I don't even know how to thank https://soundcloud.com/dvflds for mixing my EP, for helping me fill in the bass and snares that I missed. I've learned so much about making beats and arranging music while creating Sad China, and honed my natural musical instincts.
I've included two covers in this EP, one by Lana Del Rey, an artist I've covered for many years, an artist I truly look up to, and a Mandarin song that I, along with a multitude of other Chinese girls, have heard throughout my childhood. I hope you enjoy them both.
The original tracks were written anywhere from bus stops to cafe couches, in my own bed, in someone else's bed, to those small rewarding breaks we all take when smoking a cigarette. I wrote them when I felt sad, or happy, or confused, or angry. The men who have hurt me and my girl friends whom I love continue to live their lives in our "Community?" without any real repercussions, and the father who left us, for whatever excuse he could find, continues to mould our experiences in "Is It That Bad?", and I hope you can relate to that.
I've had so much fun recording these tracks, finding the right chord progressions, singing my Ah's and Ooh's, harmonizing with myself, and discovering cool drumkits to use. I've had less fun trying to perfect everything, because I'm not perfect.
Once again, thank you all for being a part of my life.
Thank you, Dave, for believing in me.
