With a poetic grit reminiscent of PJ Harvey and a cheeky strut to match Suzi Quatro, Melbourne Singer/Songwriter and Bassist Suzanne Kinsella is a musician who has built her career from the inside out.
“Her music is utterly stunning” – Emily Ulman, Toff in Town Booker
Singing since the age of 4, and songwriting and studying the bass in her teens, Suzanne has spent the last 8 years since completing a Bachelor of Applied Music, touring, writing and recording in Australia, Canada and New York. Releasing three independent EP’s with her formative band, ‘Don’t Mess With The Pony’ from 2004 to 2009, and a full length album, ‘Cheap Romance’, with Melbourne Blues/Rock outfit Sabrina and the Red Vans in 2011, Suzanne has been busy cutting her teeth to be the versatile, passionate and resilient musician and performer that she is.
A commanding and charasmatic presence on stage, Suzanne effortlessly connects with her audience. Her soaring and assured vocals can be compared to the ethereal notes of Sarah McLachlan and the tonal authority of Aussie comrade, Deborah Conway.
After performing with a plethora of artists over the past 12 years, including Gotye, Deborah Conway, Dallas Frasca, Liz Stringer, Doria Roberts, Jess McAvoy, Sabrina and the Red Vans and Woohoo Revue, Suzanne reframed her focus in June 2012 and began the journey that is her debut album (release date TBC). The result of this grand plunge will be a grown up and bold collection of songs that channel Suzanne’s well honed music sensibilities and ability to ‘cut through the noise’ to produce throughly original and compelling work.
"Suzanne Kinsella is a grounded and powerful force on stage…always well thought out, always sounding effortless, her music, like her, is a delicious joy" - Jess McAvoy
