The Dancefloor by Sussmania published on 2013-07-26T08:56:19Z Last October, I went to an Israeli-Lebanese wedding in Sydney. During the reception, both the Jewish and Lebanese guests guided me through their traditional celebratory dances. After an hour of dancing, I came to realise that the Jewish "Horah" and the Arabic "Dabke" are almost the same dance. I was overcome with a sense warmth - as both families danced together jubilantly throughout the wedding. This notion was echoed later when one of the Bride's cousins admitted, "I can't even tell who's Lebanese or Jewish here". As soon as she mentioned that, I knew I needed to write this story down.
