Steel And Tin (I Am A Lite Metal Drummer) “disquiet0096-metalmachine” by Super Miracle Dream Team published on 2013/11/05 03:37:15 +0000 For this week's project, I recorded various metal sounds into an iPhone app called Werkbench: http://www.bolasol.com/werkbench/ It's a sampler/drummachine with that loops16 step sequences into beat/patterns. I recorded 4 sequences, each sequence featuring either a different sound or a different manner of making that sound. I used a copper spoon, a tin box, a crowbar, and a circular saw blade (for the softer tones). I tried to vary the sound-making by dragging metal across metal, scratching metal with metal, clanging metal on metal, tapping metal (lightly) with metal.... Using this process, I recorded 64 one-second bits of metal noise. After that, I recorded the loops as they played--jumping back and forth between them. Some delay and echo was applied. Disquiet Instructions: This week's project is a tribute to Lou Reed, who passed away earlier this week. His album Metal Machine Music from 1975 is a classic early noise endeavor. The project this week is straightforward. Using the phrase "Metal Machine Muse" as your guide, create a tribute to Metal Machine Music. Please employ at least one actual metal in your work, and note it in the title of your track.
