GREG EDWARDS an ambassador for Black Music. If you were a soul/ jazz/ funk fan in London in the 70s and early 80s, it was a given that you listened to Greg's ‘Soul Spectrum’ on Capital Radio. This was where we kept up with the latest soul sounds and where other DJs listened in to stay on top of their game. Greg was recently placed a lofty 5 in a B&S Poll of The Most Essential Black Music DJs of the past forty years...
GORDON MAC changed the sound of London radio. As the founder and manger of Kiss FM it was his ambition that transformed the station from a part-time pirate to a hugely successful and culturally important business. The first legal broadcaster in the UK to play exclusively black music, the station became the legitimate platform for London's thriving dance music culture of the ’80s and ’90s.
JUNIOR GISCOMBE was one of the first British Soul/R&B artists to be successful in the US. He is best known for his 1982 hit single, "Mama Used to Say" .Other releases such as "Too Late", "Let Me Know", "I Can’t Help It", "Communication Breakdown", "Somebody", "Do You Really Want My Love", "Another Step (Closer To You) ", "Step Off", "Then Came You" & "All Over The World" all hit the UK charts through the 80s and early 90s.
GRAEME PARK has over 25 years on the decks and more than 15 years on the radio Graeme Park is a clubbing institution. Graeme has presented shows on Kiss, Galaxy and Juice FM. His weekly Radio Show still has a large audience. Graeme Park was placed in the top 30 ‘’essential black music DJs of the last 40 years,'’ in a recent industry poll.
THE REFLEX is a producer / DJ who specializes in edits, remixes and breathes new life into classic soul and disco tracks. The Reflex Revisions series have become an almost weekly staple on the radio, with regular plays on The Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show as well as frequent airplay from Gilles Peterson, Ross Allen, Kev Beadle and countless others.
NATE JAMES is a British soul singer-songwriter who has sold over 800,000 albums internationally and is one of the most successful independent soul recording artists of his generation. His debut album Set The Tone, earned Nate two MOBO nominations in 2005 for Best Newcomer and Best R&B Artist, with another nomination for Best UK Male in 2006.
JAMES ANTHONY is a DJ and radio presenter. He is a regular at Soul nights up and down the UK and currently presents ‘Turn Up The Music’ every Saturday on Solar Radio
STRETCH TAYLOR is a respected & versatile club/radio DJ, music journalist, remixer & promoter of over 25 years. Mi-Soul is the new home of his decade-long running ‘Ghetto Heaven Show’.
