With well over 30 internationally distributed tracks released on vinyl, spanning multiple genres, and many more scheduled for release in the near future, not many Canadian d'n'b producers can compete with this man's production credentials. As a solo artist and as one half of the duo 'Fortress', his tracks have received major support from some of the industry’s biggest outfits including Noisia, Teebee, Ed Rush and Optical, Klute, Total Science, Break, Loxy, Hybris, Xtrah, C4C, Concord Dawn, State of Mind and many, many more.
The New Zealand born dual national has toured in Europe and the US, playing before crowds of over 3000 and collaborated with such artists as Mayhem, Loxy, Nphect and Dizplay, Raiden, and Catacomb. Having established the 'Portal Productions' promotional outfit and held down residencies at Montreal's long standing KO drum 'n' bass events, running his own night “Kiss My Bass” at Cabaret Underworld as well as a residency at the internationally renown club Circus Afterhours, he has a lot going on both internationally and locally in Montreal. To top it all off, he runs his own fully featured private recording studio and is an honours student enrolled in a double major (Electroacoustics and Computer Science) at Concordia University.
2015 is shaping up to be a big comeback year for Subtone. His track “Ivory”, in collaboration with Knox, was rated as Knowledge Magazine’s favourite cut from Vandal Records’ recent Various Artists Decade LP. “Proverbial” on Full Force just hit the shelves, cracking the top 50 on Beatport. He was also recently appointed the position of Label Manager for Full Force Recordings. If you are lucky enough to see him behind the decks, expect to hear nothing but the freshest dubplates from the scene's heaviest hitters, as well as his own unique brand of futuristic funk.
