Stuart Mapplebeck Stuart Mapplebeck Halifax I play music ... it's amazing, listen! MINI LECTURE WARNING: Nowadays, the regular person considers everything that has a 4/4 beat to be house music, including some ridiculous pop tracks by Flo Rida and Pitbull. So it seems that certain outlets in an effort to avoid any confusion have now divided house into about a gazillion different genres... and it's getting pretty pathetic. So bad in fact that in a Beatport email I received recently it was recommending me 'Witch House'... I mean seriously, 'Witch House' haha. The world of house music would be a much better place if tracks weren't always pigeonholed to a single genre, especially a made up one for the cool kids. House music has become a genre of music that incorporates lots of different elements... that's what makes it so amazing! Here's a quick example of what i mean (The following examples were sent in a 'Genres On The Rise' email from Beatport): Idiot A: 'Yo man, what music do you play?' Idiot B: 'Well, I used to play Bass House and Complextro but now I just play Witch House, it's much better.' Idiot A: 'Yeah, it's alright, I'm more of a Yacht House guy myself.' See what I mean? Yacht House!... I assume that's house music tailored to be played exclusively on yachts... :) When I say I play house music I do not in any way, shape or form refer to anything like, similar or associated with David Guetta. Yes, if you follow me on here you will have entered into a binding contract to dislike Guetta as much as me... his music epitomises what is wrong with modern dance music. I'm sure i'm not the only one who thinks this, right? ;) Now, enough of my waffling, just enjoy what I think house music should sound like... Disco, Disco, Oi, Oi!!
