Since the band’s foundation in the summer of 2010, Struggletown has drawn comparisons to popular folk rock and Americana bands of the day. Struggletown differentiates their sound by combining traditional folk, rock, acoustic pop with country roots. Throw in some blues and funk, Struggletown is a group that is truly just doing their own thing. From fun jams about scrambled eggs, to stadium ready whiskey fueled love song mayhem, Struggletown’s catalogue of tunes is ever expanding.
A debut 2012 CD release from Struggletown blends an Americana style of acoustic, country, and folk rock...with a touch of bluegrass! Featuring Ryan Colligan on guitar, Christian Henry on banjo, John Krause on upright bass, and Joseph Vincent on drums/piano, "Goodnight Caroline" is their first original. A softer tune featuring piano and delicate vocals, this tune will tug at your heart strings. Genre? Its all Struggletown.
The summer of 2013 was a busy time for Struggletown, booking live shows across Central NY, finished off with a television broadcast to promote a fund raising show in their home town. During this time, two new originals were written and digitally released. "Scrambled Eggs" is a funky song, showcasing a bluesy guitar demanding nothing short of a proper breakfast! Many say "(What I Think Was) I Love You” is their favorite, a perfect blend of acoustic guitar, bowed bass, and vocal harmonies that will fill your soul. To top off the year, Struggletown recorded a special Christmas song, "God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen". Its a very fun folk song with a bluegrassy twist. Featuring the banjo, upright bass, acoustic guitar and drums to produce a fun and exciting song with an upbeat tempo!
