Stranded Silver Stranded Silver Greenville, NC Founded in August 2013, Stranded Silver is an established flute quartet based in Eastern North Carolina. Each member is a student or alumni of East Carolina University either in pursuit or already completed a music degree in performance, education, or theory and composition. They each have extensive experience in their areas and have their own list of accomplishments, but together they have decided to make it their mission to learn and experiment with flute quartet literature. Stranded Silver has performed for many events, including recruitment events for prospective students at the East Carolina University School of Music, the East Carolina University Excels Program for the College of Fine Arts and Communications, various chamber music recitals, the 2014 and 2015 NC NewMusic Initiative Frequencies concerts, and several solo concerts. They strive to bring this style of music to their local community by taking part in outreach performances at local assisted living homes and public schools, as well as other performance venues. They have also been featured in the East Carolina Student Newspaper, The East Carolinian, on the internet magazine New Millennium Music, The Daily Reflector, and in Open G Records' "Outside the Echo Chamber" Blog Series (Part IV). They received a superior rating at the annual Raleigh Area Flute Association Solo and Ensemble Festival Review in 2014 and were chosen as semi-finalists for the Savvy Musician in Action Chamber Music Competition, a competition dedicated to innovative and collaborative performances. Along with these various reviews and awards, the members of Stranded Silver are always looking for ways to learn more about how to become better flutists and musicians. Their enthusiasm, drive, and the support from their community allowed them to successfully complete substantial fundraising efforts in order for them to attend the 2014 National Flute Association Annual Convention in Chicago, Illinois. This experience allowed Stranded Silver to attend various workshops and lectures where they gained valuable knowledge about becoming better musicians and entrepreneurs. Stranded Silver aims to bring new light to flute music and captivate audiences in thrilling performances. While Stranded Silver is a young group, they continue to push the limits as a quartet and strive to show the expansive techniques that lie in the flute.
