The Mask by Steve Pichan published on 2020-12-07T18:23:19Z Let's be honest, by now everyone is really fed up with wearing a Covid mask! I wear mine whenever possible below my nose to avoid a claustrophobic attack. "The Mask" offers some upbeat humor and some disguised frustration for the critical listener while, at the conclusion of the song, is a bit of hope.....hope for a mask bonfire with all my family, friends and neighbors. What a celebration that will be :) Below are the lyrics. I'm publishing this on Soundcloud with free downloads available. Hope it adds some comfort to all the muzzle wearers out there! The Mask Steve Pichan – singer /songwriter / producer VS 1 Stepped outside in the neighborhood Saw a few people doing what they should Hiding behind the mask we wear ‘didn’t look up, I felt the fear Streets without the traffic noise The playground’s missin girls and boys We don’t see smiles they’re hid away I look forward to a better day, day CHORUS 1 & 3 When I can see your face It would feel like a warm embrace Oh how I miss those smiles Of strangers passing by VS 2 Hope this doesn’t last too long Hope it ends before this song I’ll bet you feel the way I do Maybe it’s a dream or crazy spoof Feels to me unnatural To walk by you and not say hello You’re covered up, don’t know who you are When I get close, you go far BRIDGE Let’s break all the rules this time There’s not a drone in site Watch out, there’s a spy, a say over there CHORUS 2 & 4 But can I see your face It would feel like a warm embrace The mask it hides those smiles Of strangers passing by OUTRO SPOKEN WORD Hello! How ya doing? You know, I think everything is gonna be ok! Genre Folk & Singer-Songwriter
