“It is with pride and joy that i here like to offer to you my new album called Maison Melody, an instrumental music-project performed on piano and strings and indie-released on a non-profit basis.”
Stephen Emmer - May 2020
Why is the album named Maison Melody?
“For centuries now music-composers prefer to work in solitude on their creations and often the only companion in this process is the direct environment, their house. Composers develop a special relationship with the house through their creations, thus finding desire for quietude and the essential peace of mind for composing. Historically music-composers have always distanced themselves from crowded communal places in order to be able to better hear their inner voice, leading to thorough artistic self expression. In this hyper focus mode the composers’ relationship with their house becomes their partner in crime. This allows them to create at home by travelling in their own mind and tapping into their imagination without external distractions.
And this is exactly how I, about a year ago, composed my most personal and introspective melodies so far, which is why this one is called Maison Melody.”
Tell us more about the album?
“After finishing composing and arranging in my own house, I re-recorded the piano and string-quartet outside of the house with some other musicians such as Marcel Worms, Dimitrie Leivici and the West Side Trio in a professional studio. The album got mixed by Francesco Donadello who has previously worked with Hildur Guonadottir, Johann Johannson & Ludovico Einaudi. Mastering took place in Berlin.
The 10 compositions are lyrical and meditative piano miniatures, characterized by impressionist elegance with simple and direct melody in an effort to compose calm and soothing music for people with an unspoken voice deep inside.”
Where can i listen to the new album?
“As this is a profit-free project you can listen to it for free on SoundCloud, Bandcamp, Youtube next to the big streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, Youtube Music, Primephonic, a.s.o.
Preceding the album release each song will get a livestream introduction on www.facebook.com/stephenemmerofficial. So do start following me there for regular updates.”
Why the hashtag #createathome ?
“Hopefully you will enjoy listening to Maison Melody and it would be great if it inspires you to also keep on or start creating things whilst at home; e.g. make music, start painting, write letters or books or anything creative as all art has a positive and calming effect on both its creators and its consumers.”
If you feel that you also know other people who might benefit from calming well meant melodies feel free to share my non-profit music without any obligation and please don't forget to create yourself either.
