Mind, body, soul; Stefny Winter’s music speaks all three languages. Inspired by nature and the energy of connectivity, this California-native’s DJ sets revel in quiet emotion: dark synth lines balanced by subtle groove, heavy bass softened with expressive refrains, such that beat becomes mantra. Despite roots in the west coast, Stefny’s music is by no means confined to the organic, drawing equally fromthe sounds of the concrete jungles in Detroit, Chicago, and New York; always grounded in the kind of soulful atmosphere that inspires the dancefloor. Her production sees the infusion of diverse influences, including vocals from her friends, her son, and herself, creating intimate narratives released on the likes of Siteholder, Archipel, Contexterrior, Caduceus, Third Ear Recordings and her own non-profit imprint Goodnight Moon Recordings. Now based in Montreal, Stefny has graced the stage at local events like MUTEK, Igloofest, and Piknic Electronik, alongside international gigs in Japan, Germany, Spain, and the UK; the embodiment of musical universality.
