Born and raised in Pavia, Italy, Stefano grew up with a solid classical piano and organ education. Acclaimed european jazz pianist Umberto Petrin is mostly responsible for shaping and guiding Stefano's first attempts at non-classical music in different forms. The first opportunity of playing and touring with an established successful blues/roots band in Italy and Europe (while attending Industrial Design/Architecture studies at the Politecnico University in Milan) came joining Fabrizio Poggi and Chicken Mambo.
This eventually lead to a working position in the US arranging and recording keyboards at the Cribworks recording studio owned and operated by Merel Bregante (drummer for Loggins&Messina, Nitty Gritty Dirt band, producer, engineer) in Austin, TX.
Steady Austin-based band collaborations (including at times production and co-writing) followed: Seth Walker, Jimmy LaFave, Clay McClinton, Larry Joe Taylor, Mike Blakely, Boombox ATX, Mingo Fishtrap, the Grooveline Horns band, Atash, Don Harvey's "A is Red", Sauce, John Arthur Martinez. Remarkable, among these, is the one with the Diakonos Ministries church, whose band and choir perform weekly with fire and passion a wide repertoire of traditional and contemporary gospel tunes.
Great touring opportunities came out of Austin TX, among which the ones with (all of them) Grammy winning singer/songwriter Patty Griffin, latin pop-star Cristian Castro and recently with Jason Mraz, Pat Green, Charlie Robison.
Some other remarkable artists collaborations with: Chuck Rainey, John Popper (Blues Traveler's lead singer/ harmonica player), Tom Cochrane, Jeff "Skunk"Baxter, Delbert McClinton, Raul Malo, Hal Ketchum, Michael Des Barres, Gary Nicholson(Whitey Johnson), Ivan Neville, Cyril Neville, Marcia Ball, John McEuen, Buckwheat Zydeco, the contemporary gospel duo Mary Mary, bass icon Roscoe Beck.
