I wish to talk of England...written'n'read by Neil William Holland by Soloneili published on 2014/01/03 17:58:46 +0000 A poem by Neil William Holland I wish to talk of England Where my heart dwells inside the land of dale and heath and twisted spire, with hearts of oak and ancient shire, in England. I want to walk you through this land. of wheat, touched with trailing hand. O’er meadows sweet and golden sand. to share this love of England. My potter’s bowl of fired clay, and fields greened, by rainy day, twixt galleried-towns dressed up in May, that paint my love for England. I dearly wish to share with you our summer skies in seas of blue, and diverse folk of every hue, whose hearts now beat in England. As ancient Yews in churchyards grow I’ll meet my fate one day I know, then I will reap what I did sow In England. Please God, I ask you only this, it is my simple, life-long wish, that I should die of rapturous bliss. In my beloved England.
