WEB EXCLUSIVE: Steve Fisher by sojournertruthradio published on 2012/11/09 18:50:25 +0000 Besides the re-election of Barack Obama, tuesday can be considered as an historic day for the LGBT community. In Wisconsin Tammy Baldwin became the first openly lesbian member of the United States Senate while same-sex marriage was approved in referendums in Maine, Maryland and Washington State. In addition to that, an amendment to the Minnesota constitution that would ban gay marriage was rejected in the polls. In Los Angeles, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) organized an election night party in The Abbey, a bar in West Hollywood. About 100 people gathered as the election results were coming in, to celebrate the night's events. We spoke to Steve Fisher, member of the Board of Governors of HRC about what Tuesday’s election means to the LGBT community.
