Sojournertruthradio 10-4-13 Roundtable Part 2 by sojournertruthradio published on 2013-10-04T16:16:52Z Friday on our weekly roundtable: A showdown in Washington DC. The Affordable Care Act rolls out and US Government is closed for business, leaving close to a million people not knowing when they will get another paycheck, and leaving single mothers and children without basic nutrition and care. What is the shutdown really about? Is it really about Obamacare and if so why? Will conservatives manage to flip the script? What does this indicate about the looming debt ceiling battle that is only a week and a half away? The 68th meeting of the UN General Assembly is now behind us. Presidents and their representatives from around the world gathered to at the very least listen to each other. President Obama and Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani avoided any in-person meeting although they did speak by phone much to the outrage of Israeli Prime Minister who lectured President Obama on the subject. And the deal on Syria’s chemical weapons is cautiously moving forward. Meanwhile, Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro was noticeably absent from the UN meetings. The Presidents of Bolivia, Brazil and Venezuela made clear their political independence from the US and the English speaking Caribbean Nations pressed their case for native and slavery reparations. The coming out of a multi-polar world; what does this all mean for US foreign policy and political and economic clout? Panelists are: Jackie Goldberg; Tom Hayden and Dr. Clarence Lusane Horne. Sojourner Truth, Friday October 4th.
