On Sunday, November 25th, US officials fired tear gas at migrants, including women and children attempting to breach the US/Mexico border. Gas canisters and pepper balls were also used, leaving children gasping for breath and traumatized. Trump strongly defended the use of the gas; indeed he lied, saying several border patrol agents were badly injured by the migrants. Tear gas is considered a chemical weapon under international law.
