Hellfire Prowl by Vertigo Fox published on 2013/04/06 03:47:33 +0000 Deconstructive synth-metal despite an almost complete lack of guitar-like synths. The picture explains the song's lyrical ideas... if you can read it. Like Blaster Jones this is a Take Over The World song. But this time it's from a demonic POV... The feeling is a little bit like a certain midi track by a certain Luke Schneider but only a little bit. There are a few shout outs to that midi track in the lyrics, in fact, but those shoutouts are about the apathy of the world that the singer is about to conquer. AND THAT WORLD IS EARTH!!!! Now released on Creatures of the Nether EP, over at vertigofox.bandcamp.com There are a couple reasons I used that roland rock organ, instead of something more unique. The biggest reason was that it has this agressive sound that I've never heard in any other organ, and an organ without that agressive sound wouldn't work for this song. Trust me. I tried plenty of other organs for that line. The second reason was that I had this much higher-quality version (compared to Microsoft's general midi version) of the Roland organ in soundfont form lying around and I'd never actually used it in anything despite loving its sound so much. There's a reason I used mostly XG drum samples as well, but I don't remember it right now. Maybe it's just because I like the way percussion sounds on XG. Maybe I wanted to make it sound like the drum track was recorded live on my keyboard even though it wasn't. The title is a sort of parody of Lyris's "Acid Crawl". And those hellknights in the picture are female hellknights. Because.
