Resident Advisor - Review - https://www.residentadvisor.net/reviews/21809
"The most remarkable thing about this release is the ease with which these young producers navigate two disparate skill sets: impressive, three-dimensional sound design and a genuine sense of musicality."
XLR8R - Interview - https://xlr8r.com/features/bubblin-up-smog
“His work, which has been picked up by the likes of Donato Dozzy and Objekt, blends breakneck industrial sounds with the belligerent power of hardcore techno and abstracted percussion of UK dance music. At its root are carefully researched electro-acoustic techniques blended with digital and analogue processing, used to shape his ideas into warped ethereal soundscapes.”
Resident Advisor - New Tracks Stream - https://www.residentadvisor.net/tracks/954975
"The Berlin producer's debut album, sequel'70, is full of pummeling grime-techno-industrial hybrids like this one."
Inverted Audio - Premiere - https://inverted-audio.com/smog-announces-debut-album-sequel70-on-oqko
"In his debut album, Smog lays bare a world of start and stop mechanics. Tracks twist and turn through stuttering panoramas of crashing beats, majestic peaks and post-rave intensity. You can expect raw mutations of bass, techno, jungle and electroacoustic music all soundtracked through his singular take on the hardcore continuum."
Exclaim! - Review - https://exclaim.ca/music/article/smog-sequel70
"Across its 36-minute runtime, sequel'70 introduces smog's modus operandi as an intricately laid-out plan to destroy eardrums as provocatively as possible. It's a compelling collection of tracks, and a stunning debut from an artist who is certainly one for folks to be keeping their eyes and ears on. "
