"Ghost of David" appealed to me for several reasons; I'm a Bazan fan (he's supposedly the subject of the song), and the structure and minimalism of the lyrics reminded me of the spare words that accompany old time fiddle tunes. The sentiment is similar as well - a beautiful melody that tells a somber narrative. From there I combined the lyrics with a solo fiddle tune called "Piney Woods Gal" and enlisted a few friends to help. The players are Jess McIntosh (fiddle), Ben Lester (electronics), Ashlee Whitty (vocals), and myself (vocals, guitar, electronics, percussion).
