Cher Ami by Sister Ursuline published on 2014-12-22T08:45:05Z Cher Ami, a female homing pigeon who served in the Battle of Argonne during WWI, became a war hero after saving the lives of the remaining members of the Lost Battalion, who were trapped in the Argonne Forest by enemy troops. Arriving at her loft covered in blood, missing a leg, blinded, and shot through the breast/wing, she delivered the telegram containing the co-ordinates of the battalion to Allied Forces. Written by Colonel Charles Whittlesey, it read: "WE ARE ALONG THE ROAD PARALELL 276.4. OUR ARTILLERY IS DROPPING A BARRAGE DIRECTLY ON US. FOR HEAVENS SAKE STOP IT." Composed, recorded and performed by Sister Ursuline.
