In this episode, we speak with Alice Athy, an entrepreneur with a dream and a vision. She is mostly known as the seaweed lady or ‘Alice Seaweed’ in Vanuatu and has started her own business, making beauty products from seaweed that can help the skin, hair and body.

Since the age of 8, Alice has envisioned working for herself, ever since she came across a professor during the first independence saying that ‘Independent’ means to be ‘Self-reliant’. These days, she is well known around Vanuatu for the products she produces including the work she does by transferring her knowledge to the next generation, helping them in becoming self-reliant entrepreneurs of the future..

Listen in as we explore her achievements, and Alice educates us on the importance of different kinds of seaweed, how she makes her products and their uses. Although Vanuatu is a pacific island country that has plenty of natural resources, Alice is one of the few who unlocked it’s benefits. We look into her business, and the importance of taking opportunities and developing skills and talent to make something great!
