Siphe Tebeka doesn’t like being called a DJ. He is the young dance music phenomenon.
His sets are more multi-racial.
He plays mostly his own material, assembling tracks on the fly.
It’s an approach that’s catapulted Siphe Tebeka into dance music.
Hard to believe that six years ago, he used to hate house music because of similarity, 4/4 timing.
Siphe Tebeka was all but unknown. He grew up in Guguletu,
NY 110, 75 kilometres northeast of Cape Town. As a kid he was obsessed with computers,
games and toys. When he was 17 he started making awful beats, he was more inspired by Bojo
Mujo, Mujava, Casablanca. Every new version of Fruity Loops (demo versions) that was released,
he was on top of it every day.
Siphe Tebeka had an interest for music since the age of 15. When he was 16 he decided to dedicate more time to it and began DJing professionally at Public Taverns , parties, etc and he was just doing that for fun, when he was 17 he got a computer from his relative, he started using Fruity Loops 4. During these years, he produced awful tracks under Fruity Loops 4 and Reason 2.
In the beginning of his career as DJ he mostly played progressive deep house, electro and Durban Kwaito, When he was 18, he met Anathi Maphikana, he thought him chords, and then he started to produce Deep house, which led him to electro house, when he started doing electro compilations, Something nobody else did at that time.
2009, Siphe Tebeka met Vuyo Myoli the owner of Spread Art Entertainment, so for him it was a challenge to work as a producer, engineer, manager of the studio. Late 2009 Vuyo Myoli Introduced
him to Bonani Sandlana the owner of Khokho Khulu Integral, They where both his Mentor/Supporter.
2010 Bonani Sandlana took him to Clubs, to see the response on the crowd. They used to spend time researching local and international music. Late 2010 he met Crazy White Boy, Black Coffe, Ganyani, Roger Goode and Erica Elle, etc.
He was sending demos, radio edits, but there was no air play
or contract appealing.
2011 he joined the Deepconsoul Sounds
2011 Siphe Tebeka decided to concentrate on his career and he spent all his night doing
Research, leaning techniques/tricks under Image-Line FL Studio 9. He decided to do video tutorials and upload it on You Tube, that show how to do electro techniques/tricks, he uploaded some of his Original mixes on Soundcloud
2012 He constructed his own Sample Packs, where you get chords, percussion, effects, etc.
2012 He’s working on his Electro Album
