SinanU was born in November 26th, 1987 in Istanbul, into such an environment that, although he wasn’t aware at the time, it would come as no surprise that he would grow to narrate all that is crossing his mind without beating around the bush and solely via his music and his lyrics. His maternal grandmother Hülya Saydam and grandfather Erdoğan Saydam being classical musicians and his father being a huge fan of jazz music, the beginning of the reign of music in his life would not be waiting for too long.
His first acquaintance with musical instruments would be his grandmother’s private piano lessons. After having been tutored for two years, losing his grandmother would cause him to pause until 1999, when he would take up the classical guitar this time to resume his musical journey, which he still goes on today with the passion and excitement of his first day. After winning the prizes, for the “Second Best Orchestra”, “Second Best Performance” and the “Third Best Male Vocal” with the orchestra of his high school, Deutsche Schule Istanbul in 2006, in a widely known music contest among high schools nationwide - “KASDAV Music Contest” - he would get enrolled in Istanbul based Bogazici University’s Physics Department. Soon afterwards he would focus on his own compositions and would found his new band Makrodalga. During the four-year Makrodalga era, he would act as the sole composer and lyricist, as well as playing the electric guitar and singing the lead vocals. With his compositions, the band would receive the third prize in the MillerMusicFactory 2006 competition, second prize in RockNDark 2009, would have the chance to play in the finals for two consecutive years, 2007 and 2008, in the Battle of the Bands competition held by Radio Bogazici and would record 3 EPs.
In 2011 he would graduate from SAE Istanbul Audio Engineering Department, to receive his undergrad degree in physics in the following years. Also in 2011, he would make a remix for the well-known Turkish rock band Vera’s song “Hain” from the “Bos Zamanlar” EP, which would receive critical acclaim in the musical community.
He would start giving private music production lessons in Bogazici University Music Club and Radio Bogazici in 2014, the same year in which he would be one of the two students who had the chance to give a speech in TEDx Bogazici on electronic music composition. The next year, he would release his first electro-EP from 7FGR Records in August.
In late 2016 his first LP “7:32” has been released by Irem Records, which contains 10 songs. In the album, for which his motto is “my biggest regrets are always what I have been afraid of doing, not what I have done,” Sinan tells what he has experienced in his life with his own motives and his genuine language without holding back or paltering.
