//1 What is the story behind your alias 'viperflo' ?
To be honest, unfortunately there is no exciting story to my alias. But the stories circling around the name ‘viperflo‘ which people make up are much more interesting. So I leave this space open to anyone‘s fantasy.
//2 When did you start djing?
I question what djing truly means? Well, I started to create mixes at the age of 20. At that time, I only mixed for myself and close friends. After a friend of mine convinced me to upload my first mixtape a couple of years ago, this whole thing began to role; followers and nice comments followed. Although people kept on asking whether I was going to play gigs or not, I never saw myself as a DJ. Only since last year, I began to play live in Berlin clubs. Here, the experience is totally different: you receive instant feedback and I‘m as nervous as a child. Nevertheless, the feeling to make people happy through your music is unbelievable.
//3 How old are you?
//4 What/ Who are your main influences?
That‘s a difficult one. It all started with Techno. I‘m originally from Kassel: I will never forget the city‘s Stammheim/Aufschwung Ost where everything began. Today, I still love Techno‘s hypnotising nature, especially when you reach this point where you tend to float to the sound. In time, I strongly broadened into different genres. Therefore, I wouldn‘t appoint myself to a specific electronic school.
//5 How would you describe your musical/ lyrical style?
Again, difficult ;)
It really depends on the context I am in. Music, to large parts, means coping with situations and feelings. And that is never covered purely through one style. In this way, you are always exposed to the risk that people reject your mix, but that‘s how it is. For me, a mix has to be honest. I not only identify with its lyrics, but it takes me on my next journey. Some push me into a high, and some into low. All of this is part of life, and I guess, this is what describes my music.
//6 What are your plans for the future?
I would like to produce myself. Unfortunately, time has been to short for this venture, but I hope to manage in the future. This would mean most to me.
//7 Your set covers nearly always feature a human hand, in one way or another. What is the idea behind the hands?
They are supposed to be personal, however, without showing myself. So I decided to use my hand as motif. At first, I took them from existing images, but as time progressed I ran out of pictures. Today, I create a certain atmosphere for every mix.
//8 What do you connect with SIMON&ME?
I guess we share the same taste for music ;)
//9 What is your favourite day of the week, and why?
Sunday. Only on Sundays I have time to sleep in. The downside is, that I‘m extremely lazy too.
