Wearing the mask of a court jester I get to say a couple of things (some more obvious than others) which I’m hoping you can connect with: – ‘You couldn’t make it up’ is simply a cry welling up from the streets. ‘Only the Rain’ holds the rainbow (it says), and you can’t get to it without going through the drenching first. That’s not always true but it is true for now I think, but ‘Saturn Has Rings’ and let’s face it, it will have rings whether I get there or not. ‘Waves’ is how I learned to roll over and play dead, only to discover we’re all doing it! ‘Tin Eye’ is a swipe at ‘TNI’ – (*Trusted News Initiative) and ‘Crossing Jordan’ a tongue in cheek cameo of newthink and newspeak. ‘The City on the Plain’ (where we’ve all gone down to) is the place Adams’ cousin Lot went down to in Genesis 13 and ‘Signz’ is the minstrel signing off with a piece that manages to mention God, Facebook and Twitter in the same song along with making some musical handbrake turns. Then after the curtain has closed he sneaks back on with a slapstick encore ‘Squiggle’ - the QR code you get on a vaccination certificate which is the our artifact of worship, the 21st century way of separating us into camps marked ‘them and us’.
