shortwave Simon J. Amsterdam Shortwave started out as a DJ in the early nineties in Amsterdam, where Mazzo turned out to be his favorite venue. As a producer and DJ he's now specialized in classic house, lounge & triphop and (acid) jazz and funk. Between 1998 and 2003 he also did a weekly radio show on jazz and affiliated music, called Giant Steps. Having played musical instruments from as young as six years old, soon after he discovered Mazzo (in 1990) he picked up his first synthesizer and started producing his own tracks. Shortwave has since produced dozens of tracks in a broad variety of styles, ranging from Drum & Bass to Downtempo Ambient.
