Two years after the namesake debut, two years spent mostly traveling and playing live, dream-folk duo She Owl presents their new LP Animal Eye.
All the songs come from percussive, tribal, primordial elements: heartbeat, breath, earthquakes, the pulse of the stars.
Music is feral, performed with open heart, open mind and open eyes. The songs are directly inspired by Jolanda and Demian’s personal life, hiding behind symbolic lyrics their own special wounds, their everyday little deaths and rebirths.
While the first album is a rock-folk soundtrack for fairytales, the later is more focused on drum parts and vocal performances, in order to capture the duo’s live raw energy which make them sound onstage like a full band.
Recorded in San Francisco at The Complex Studio by George S. Rosenthal, Animal Eye is produced and arranged by Jolanda and Demian. All the instruments are played by the duo: piano, keyboards, autoharp, kalimba, indian harmonium, vocals (Jolanda), guitars and percussions (Demian), featuring contribution of Roberta Cartisano on bass.
Animal Eye is a soundtrack for whoever feels born in captivity and part of a tribe that he or she has never met, yet.
