SHADOW HOST Shadow Host Moscow Shadow Host is one of the most popular and well known heavy metal bands in Russia. It was founded in 1993 by its mastermind Alex Arzamazov. Since that time Shadow Host shared stage with such bands as Blind Guardian, Overkill, Annihilator, Gamma Ray, Iced Earth, Stratovarius, Nightwish, Edguy, Grave Digger, Iron Savior, Tankard and others. Shadow Host was one the first Russian bands that started playing melodic power/speed metal. Over the years, the band's music style became more aggressive, with more technical elements and now it can be described as speed/power/thrash metal. At present time, Shadow Host displays their own version of modern heavy metal music that combines different influences of classic metal: from melodic motifs of Blind Guardian and Rage to aggressive riffing of Testament and Forbidden. Since 1993 the band has released five full-length albums in cooperation with leading Russian metal labels (CD-Maximum, Metalism Rec). During that time the band’s line-up has changed several times. Guitarist Andrey Smirnov (U.D.O., Blaze Bayley) was a second SHADOW HOST’s guitar player from 2003 to 2007. Andrey Ishchenko (Arkona, Blaze Bayley, Paul DiAnno) was their drummer from 2007 to 2008. Shadow Host is the leader of Russian speed/power metal scene. The band regularly gives concerts and tours. At this point the band is arranging new material for their new full-length album that will be released in Spring of 2016.
