Lucas and Spielberg wanted Indy to be "an adventurer", not "a guy who fights Nazis", so prequel it was."" 2020-01-11T19:23:26Z Comment by Deny The Witch! No alien stuff then? Damn dood 2018-07-17T06:56:54Z Comment by Paladin Cat It basically sounds like it was meant as a reboot from where they could do some new stuff, but critical reception probably put paid to that 2018-07-11T11:14:46Z Comment by Paladin Cat To be honest, saving a nation sounds like the easier way to make associate dean. 2018-07-11T11:05:18Z Comment by Paladin Cat As someone with a bit of experience in field archaeology and all culture surrounding it, the issue here for me is the stark departure from the focus on mythical an ritual stuff (which is largely stereotypical but to some extent still true) to dive into the 'Ancient Aliens' cliché. It is such a harsh contrast from "this is all mythical and a bit don't anger the gods" to "It was aliens". There's probably room to do something along the lines of "They've been watching us from afar" but for the most part their treatment of the subject matter seems to clash with what was previously established about the power behind all those temples they've been to before. 2018-07-11T10:26:00Z
