Señor Beat – the Man, the myth, the DJ. Myth is probably the best word to sum up this cunning disc jockey, as in this day in age… everyone’s a DJ, Right?
Fresh off the Glasgow Prestwick – Ibiza flight and with more naivety than Heidi and Spencer from the Hills, May 2009 is when it all really began. With literally a couple festivals under his belt and the musical knowledge of a fidget house DJ, Señor Beat didn’t know his Pacha from his Whips. But This all changed. From the summer of 2009, turning up with a mate, £180 and a weeks stay in the Hostel Florencio booked(breakfast included), through the course of another season in 2010, Señor Beat realized he was only going to be taking one path. Through meeting friends and like-minded people, spending mornings on the podium at amnesia terrace, to DJ-ing on ironing boards, somewhere in the middle of it all, Ando became Senor Beat.
Having came back from his first summer in Ibiza, Senor Beat managed to successfully run his own night with friends in his underground-deprived hometown, called JACKS HOUSE. Booking DJ’s that he had met in Ibiza, he created a flavour for underground music in his hometown that just wasn’t there before. In little under a year he managed to secure Leftroom label boss Matt Tolfrey for a sell out party at The Ice Factory, Perth.
Since Then, Señor Beat has relocated to the ever thriving city of Leeds to pursue his goals. In his rollercoaster ride, through residencies and one off gig’s he has had the priviledge of playing on the same roster as the like’s of Franck Roger, Russ Yallop, Rob James, Adam Shelton, Cera Alba, Coats of Arms, Lee Brinx and many many more. Clubs he has spun at include Sankeys, Mint Club, Mint Warehouse, The Garage… but nothing will ever beat that fold-out ironing board on a veranda in Ibiza.
Senor Beat’s style ranges from Deep House to Garage. Through attending many a festival and night, both in the UK and abroad, he has managed to develop a proper understanding of not only the Art of DJing, but this entire ever growing culture that comes with it. If there is was any recognizable entry into the DJ game, then Senor Beat has definitely taken a pretty honest route. Now focused on honing his production skills, He believes that in the current game, unless it is perfection, then what is the point? the story continues...
