She makes her mainstage debut as the Nursing Sister in “Suor Angelica,” playing through May 18, 2013. The Nursing Sister asks Suor Angelica (sung in this excerpt by Maria Gavrilova) to help her bring relief to the offstage Sister Chiara, who has been stung by wasps. When Angelica turns to her garden for an herbal remedy, the Nursing Sister explains to the Novices, “Sister Angelica is always ready with a remedy made from flowers,” words that will return with a double meaning before the end of the opera.
